CHL Training

PURPOSE
This course provides the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) required classroom training and firearm qualification students need to obtain a Texas Concealed Handgun License (CHL).

COURSE OBJECTIVE
To adequately train students sufficiently, so they are able to pass the rigous standards laid out by the State of Texas. 

COURSE PREREQUISITE
Basic proficiency with a handgun.  CHL and CHL Renewal courses are not intended to train students how to shoot a firearm.

COURSE DURATION
Required 10 hours (minimum) of combined classroom instruction and firearms shooting proficiency exam.

CONCLUSION OF TRAINING
Upon completion of training period, students must pass a written exam and a shooting proficiency exam.  At that time, the appropriate paperwork will be prepared, so the student can submit to the Department of Public Safety.
